We are very excited about the tremendous growth of this Open Studios Tour. We started with our first Art Tour in December of 2013, with five locations and nine artists. June’s 2016 tour on the 4th and 5th featured 75 amazing artists at 41 locations, plus some live music, poetry, and performances that complimented the Tour.
The Open Studios Art Tour provides an intimate view into the artist’s life and studio; to be able to see where and how ideas are conceived and developed. When visiting an artist’s studio, the creative process becomes apparent and is unique to each artist. It provides a personal, individualized experience, unlike the setting of a typical gallery show. This is what makes our event so special. We don’t charge any admission fees, and welcome all of our neighbors to experience the Tour.

Open Studios Alta/Pasa/Dena: The Artists Next Door
It’s appropriate that Altadena, a longtime home for artists, has an arts organization as its 2016 Business of the Year.
For the past three years, Open Studios Alta/Pasa/Dena has opened up the artistic treasure of Altadena and northern Pasadena to the wider community. Previously, two weekends a year, Open Studios held a free self-guided public tour where area artists share their studios and their art.
The event has blossomed — the first weekend in December 2013 had 16 artists in four locations. The most recent tour, in December 2016, included 50 artists in 24 locations. The 2016 summer show had 76 artists participating, and there is a mailing list of more than 100 artists.
